We start directly at the small stone beach in Paul do Mar, the small fishing village on the south coast of Madeira. We arrive here and take a moment to talk about mindfulness and enjoy the sound of the sea with a little breathing exercise. Each child can now look for a small lucky stone on the beach, which we pack in our bag to paint later. Then we start our little journey through the secret paths in the banana plantations. I share my knowledge about banana cultivation and am pestered with questions that I hope I can answer.
With a bit of luck, water might even be flowing through one of the levadas. As the trails through the banana plantations are a real insider tip, the paths are not always developed and we sometimes have to cross country over hill and dale. We are guaranteed not to meet anyone – except perhaps a few real locals who work in the banana plantations or a few local dogs who like to follow me around. Afterwards, we stop off at a cozy rest area where you can try the sweet bananas from Madeira before we paint our lucky stone. The stone will accompany you on your way and hopefully bring you good luck.

A very special hike with a special guide.
We meet at Villa Amore and start our hike with a short stretch along the main road. Then the steep ascent towards Raposeira begins. The path is wild, steep and slippery in places – but the higher we get, the more impressive the view of Paul do Mar becomes.
Kitty runs ahead, sometimes disappearing for a while, but always returning to see if we can still keep up. It takes us through fields and meadows as we enjoy the silence, breathe in the fresh air and discover the variety of flowers. Finally, we reach Raposeira, where old houses and friendly locals who are always open to a little chat await us.
Our route takes us along a levada for a while before we switch to a newly constructed path towards Fajã da Ovelha. The views are simply spectacular! We then walk along the road for a short distance – Kitty, now reluctantly on a lead, acts as if she hasn’t taken a single step.
We finally reach the starting point of our descent from Fajã da Ovelha to Paul do Mar. We head downhill in the warm sun, always towards the sea. Once we reach the bottom, the water invites us to swim or enjoy a cool drink in the Bar da Praia. Kitty is greeted enthusiastically by the locals – and is still full of energy!

Imagine you are visiting a small fishing village in Madeira called Paul do Mar. Here you not only have the opportunity to stroll along the sea, but also to discover the village from above, between the banana plantations. These paths along the levadas are actually only used by the locals to get to their plantations and irrigate the bananas and are definitely an insider tip. I guarantee you an impressive play of colors along the mountains and over the sea – it’s hard to decide which is more beautiful. Finally, we stop off at Bar de Pedra, a bar that is so special that even the locals from Funchal come here to enjoy the sunset with a drink.

We start in Paul do Mar with a short meditation and the sound of the sea in the background to help us settle in and get mentally in the mood for the meditation hike. We then start our ascent: 600 meters in altitude and a 20% gradient up to Fajã de Ovelha. Step by step, we climb the mountain, breathe, pause, marvel – and get closer and closer not only to our goal, but also to ourselves.
During the ascent, it remains pleasantly shady at first, but the sun greets us from behind the mountain on the last few meters of altitude. Once at the top, we enjoy the vastness of the ocean and the view of Paul do Mar – with a smile on our faces and perhaps a few beads of sweat on our foreheads.
After the quiet climb, we take time to chat and share how we experienced the way up. You can then decide whether to hike back down the same way or take the road less traveled. Both paths offer you the opportunity to feel the warming sun as you leisurely return to the sea.
Once you reach the bottom, depending on your mood, the weather and water conditions, you have a choice: jump into the crystal-clear sea or treat yourself to a well-deserved breakfast, for example at Villa Amore.

Surrounded by banana plantations, the mountains and the sea, you arrive and familiarize yourself with your chosen stone and the dot technique.
We start with a short chakra meditation that addresses our seven main energy channels in the body. We perceive and feel inside ourselves without any expectations. The body usually has a lot to say, we just have to take the time to listen. We then intuitively select the colors and start to create our personal mandala tailored to the moment using the dot tool. Accompanied by relaxing music, let your imagination run wild. You will then be given an overview of the seven chakras and their meanings so that you can reflect once again on which energy channels may have been particularly active and what you will take away from the workshop today. Maybe you didn’t feel much during the meditation – that’s perfectly fine. Because there’s one thing you’ll definitely be taking with you: your self-designed mandala dot stone.
Water and tea are provided.
